Homemade Turkish Delight

This is my take on Turkish Delight.  It is a fantastic gift and not too difficult to make, however it does need 24hrs to set so bear that in mind.

Ingredients

  • 50 grams of powered gelatine
  • 520 ml water
  • 8 tbsp rosewater
  • 900 grams caster sugar
  • 8 drops of pink food colouring
  • 6 tbsp of icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp of cornflour

Recipe

Take a large saucepan and place the water, gelatine and rosewater and stir. Then mix in the sugar and bring to the boil without stirring.

Once it’s boiling turn heat down and simmer for 20 minutes.  Oil a slice tin with sunflower oil.

Remove from heat and stir in the food colouring and rest for 2 mins before pouring into tin.

leave it to set for 24hrs.

Mix together the corn flour and icing sugar .

Remove from tin. Cut the delight into cubes and roll in the flour and sugar.

Store in air tight container or confectionery bags.
